In honor of his exemplary contributions to the field of global health, and his service on the GAIA Medical Advisory Board, GAIA Global Health will celebrate Dr. Dean Winslow at our GAIA Reception in Menlo Park, on September 8th, 2024. We will also be joined by Malawi Country Director Joyce Jere who will share the latest news from the field!
Starting Delaware’s first multidisciplinary clinic for HIV patients in 1985, leading the US COVID-19 Testing and Diagnostic Working Group, and serving as a Professor and Vice Chair of Medicine at Stanford University since 1998 are just a few highlights in Dr. Winslow’s extraordinary career. Dean has also had a decorated career in the Air National Guard and U.S. Air Force since 1980, deploying to the Middle East six times after 9/11 as a flight surgeon in Iraq and Afghanistan, coordinating military public health in Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and serving as an infectious disease consultant to the USAF Surgeon General. Additionally, since 2006, Dr. Winslow and his wife Dr. Julie Parsonnet have arranged medical care in the U.S. for 28 Iraqi children with complicated conditions for which care is not available in Iraq. We look forward to celebrating this remarkable career on September 8.
